Re-installing Multimedia Audio Controller
Hello. =]
While attempting to clear up space on my family computer, I accidentally deleted the audio controller program in the "Add/Remove Programs" program.
You know, that little speaker in the bottom that controlls the sound?
So now, I have no sound.
However, I am pretty sure I just need to re-install the drivers, I just don't have the origonal CD nor the knowladge to find out what my drivers are.
I am not a complete idiot though, I did a Belarc run and have the page open, I am not sure where it would say my drivers are, because the section that says, "Multimedia" says "None detected".
So, in my attempt to "help you help me", and I still have that Belarc page open, and I hope one of you kind Guruians can guide me to where I would download these drivers by posting any information you want me to.

Xcalibur,
I don't know whereI can find the brand of my computer.
All I know is on my monitor it says Acer, but I'm pretty sure your monitor has nothing to do with the brand. :/

If you're sure you deleted the program, and not just the speaker icon, I'd suggest going to the support site for your computer, looking up the model computer you have, download the drivers, and install them.
You should be able to find what model PC you have by looking for the model number on the back.

Kern,
I am fairly sure I deleted the program because trying to play a song in iTunes doesn't work or anything.
How would I find my computer model?
On the Belarc Advisor page it says this:
"System Model
Enclosure Type: Desktop"

See if the model/serial number is on a sticker on the back of your PC. Most sites will let you find the exact type PC you have using the serial number on the PC.

Hmm, the only sticker on the back of my PC is one with a handwritten 5 digit number. On the front of my computer is a sticker that says AMD 64.
I'm not sure what I am looking for. :/

You're looking for something that might tell you, "Acer Aspire" and a model number, or "AcerPower" and a model number, oe something like that....

Those are monitor numbers.
If you're running vista go start -> control panel -> system. It should tell you the brand
if not this will work on xp/vista, go start -> control panel -> device manager -> sound/video/game controllers and click the little box and tell us what it says.

I have XP, I shoulda said that before.
I'm not sure how to "activate" system restore.
I see the tab in the "System Properties" window, but nothing like, "Click to restore harmful changes"

Allright, I did that and found all this:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers (I'm guessing this is important?)
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Double clicking on "Legacy Autio Drivers" gives me this:
* Windows Description - Legacy Audio Drivers
* Hardware ID - MEDIA
* Device Category (Class) - Sound, video and game controllers
* Enumerator - Root
* Driver INF - wave.inf
* Driver Version - 5.1.2535.0
* Driver Date - 7-1-2001
* Device Status Flags - Present, Not detected, Known, Not Phantom, Category Visable

All right, I'll try the System Restore first. =]
-Edit-
Ugh, it wants the CD to load it from.
I'll try the google thing now.
-Edit 2-
Gah, I found like two sites that let me download a driver, but it doesn't do anything, I get a popup that doesn't let me open it.
So, if someone could please find a site that lets me download the applicable driver based on my posted information, that would great.
It seems I am unable to do it myself and I have to go now.
I guess I'll check back tomorrow to see.
